Booking really is worth it here — most people arrive to find the place full, and it's clearly popular with families and big groups. Despite that, food and drinks land quickly, which matters when someone small is unravelling. The team has a good reputation for looking after specific diets; one family with a coeliac child had gluten-free onion rings made from scratch on a packed Saturday night. Sunday roasts get the most praise, with a proper choice of meats and veg, and the mint lamb, Cajun salmon and burgers come up again and again. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, outdoor seating, step-free buggy access and free parking. Portions and plating can be uneven — one parent felt a starter was more lettuce than whitebait — but for around £45 a head with drinks, the value stands up.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
