A distillery restaurant on the Barbican that manages the rare trick of feeling special without being stuffy — cosy, relaxed, and full of people enjoying themselves, so a bit of chatter from your table won't stand out. There's buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu, plus vegan options, and the staff are the reason people come back: attentive without hovering, quick to top up water, happy to point children (and adults) towards something they'll actually eat. Portions are generous, the catch of the day and fish dishes get the loudest praise, and the truffle and parmesan fries and sticky toffee pudding are both worth ordering.
