Tucked into a 500-year-old Tudor tower above Firestone Bay, this is a small, quietly special dining room with views out to Drake's Island and Mount Edgcumbe — full of nooks and crannies, and calm rather than bustling. It's a family-run independent, and it shows: the team are warm and unhurried, take time to explain the menu, and the chef often comes out to say hello at the end of the evening. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and free parking, which takes the sting out of a special-occasion meal. Cooking is seasonal and unfussy — sea bass with dauphinoise, almond tart with amaretto ice cream, everything properly sized rather than showy. It's an intimate space, so book ahead, and it suits older children who'll sit for three courses more than restless toddlers.
