About TH Roberts
Set in a former ironmongers from the late 1800s, this is the kind of place where children can look around and find something to point at — original fittings everywhere, vintage armchairs, stone walls, even a little library room. There's plenty of seating across two floors, so you're not squeezing a pram between tables, and the staff have a reputation for going out of their way. Breakfast runs all day, which is useful when the morning has gone sideways, and the food is properly homemade: beef stew with a cheese scone, jacket potatoes with roasted veg and goats cheese, a full breakfast with crispy hash browns. The Biscoff cheesecake gets rave after rave, and the carrot cake nearly as many. Portions are generous. It's a touch pricey, and two resident dogs mean it's a lively welcome rather than a quiet one.
