Tucked a little further up into the docks than you'd expect, this one rewards the extra few minutes' walk — there's plenty of room inside, so a pram isn't a problem, and free parking takes the sting out of the journey. Sundays are the draw: big roast dinners (the beef comes pink and tender, the Yorkshires crisp and fluffy), live music, and a rustic-but-contemporary room where families and dogs mix happily. Breakfast is quietly excellent too — full English, avocado on sourdough, properly good coffee. Staff are warm and quick to seat you, and one family who turned up unbooked in a group of five was accommodated without fuss, though weekends get busy and booking is safer. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and outdoor seating. Vegan options are the weak spot — the nut roast arrives thin.
