A two-tiered Italian place where the food genuinely lives up to the fuss — properly cooked pasta, authentic-style pizza, generous portions, and a monkfish main and risotto that people still talk about. Families do well here: there's a £10 kids' menu with a main, drink and ice cream, and children's pizzas come the same size as the adults', minus the herbs. Everything is made fresh, so vegan and vegetarian eaters are easily accommodated and dishes get adapted for younger tastes without fuss. The staff are friendly and happy to talk you through the menu. Worth knowing: the upper level is reached by steps, so with a pram you'll want the downstairs area, which is level. There's free parking on the street opposite on Sundays. It's often quiet, which one parent counted as a plus. Desserts can be hit and miss — the tiramisu divides opinion.
