Perched above the beach with big windows and a glorious outdoor seating area, this is the sort of stop that works after a windy morning on the sand — buggy-friendly, light and easy-going, with a kids' menu and high chairs. The team run a slick system and food comes out fast, which matters when someone's hungry and cross. The menu is small but fresh: ciabattas, burgers, soup and salads, a dressed crab salad that's beautifully done, cracking sausage rolls and cakes worth ordering two of. Portions are generous and there are vegan options. It's a small space, so busy summer days can mean waiting for a table, and the on-site surf shop and hire desk is a genuine draw for older children. Dogs are welcome too — donate at the counter for a biscuit.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
