Hylton Cafe
A budget-friendly Birmingham cafe with a kids' menu and outdoor seating — an easy, low-key spot for a family bite.

Coffee Shops · Birmingham
A gallery and café tucked almost opposite Jewellery Quarter station, this is a genuinely unusual spot to bring children — part exhibition space, part play space, with a secret garden and courtyard out the back for when everyone needs air. The interactive creative playdays are the draw: painting, and messy play with rice and pasta, so come in clothes you don't mind. There's indoor soft play, buggy access and outdoor seating, and the atmosphere leans calm and community-minded rather than shrieky. The coffee gets praised constantly, and the muffins are enormous — genuinely a shared-between-two situation. Staff are warm and flexible, and artists exhibiting will happily chat to curious children. Worth checking what's on before you travel, since much of the programme runs as booked workshops and sessions rather than drop-in.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
