Tucked in a Cornish village a short drive from Bodmin, this is a proper country pub that happens to be genuinely easy with children — high chairs, a kids' menu, buggy access through the door and free parking outside, so you're not circling the lanes with a tired toddler in the back. The menu is short because it's all cooked fresh, and the cooking is the reason to come: Korean fried chicken nibbles people order again and again, fish and chips, a brisket pie with mash and tenderstem, sticky toffee pudding with a very soft sponge. Portions are decent, there's outdoor seating for summer, and the staff are relaxed and accommodating — dogs included. Sunday roasts are popular but pricey at around £22–25 a head, and one family found theirs tired at the end of service, so book early in the sitting.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
