Seafood · Saint Austell
A working harbour view from some tables and a log burner going in winter make this an easy place to settle in with children, and the team here get a lot of praise for coping calmly when it's busy — four adults and two kids seated and looked after without fuss is the sort of thing people mention. Sunday lunch is the standout: proper herbed roasties, good cuts of pork and beef, cauliflower cheese that gets singled out, and a kids' fish and chips that's genuinely fish and chips rather than a token portion. Portions run generous throughout, the mussels come from a mile up the road, and the spiced toffee sponge is worth leaving room for. Parking is a minute or two's walk rather than at the door. Booking is wise in season.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
