Cafés · Northallerton
Two miles off the A1 at Scruton, this is the sort of stop that works when everyone's hungry and you need parking without a fight — there's plenty of it front and back, and level access throughout for a buggy. The shop itself is small but the produce is properly good: home-made cakes, pastries at fair prices, local meat that people go back for. In the café, the open kitchen is half the entertainment, and the breakfast rolls arrive on hot plates and are big enough to share with a child. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, and outdoor tables that catch the morning sun. Worth knowing: the gift side is expensive, the specials board can be hit and miss, and the team are quick to put things right if something isn't.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
