Nando's Reading - Friar Street
Lively Reading spot with high chairs, a kids' menu, step-free buggy access and outdoor seating — booking ahead is wise.

Café · Reading
Tucked down a side street in the middle of Reading, this is a small, properly cosy place — the sort that's grown into itself rather than been styled to look that way. The upstairs seating feels like a converted barn and gets good light now, and the team will carry food and drinks up to you. Sandwiches and toasties are the thing: the Tuna Turner, the vegan options, eggs and kimcheese on toasted bloomer, avocado sourdough. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access and a few outdoor tables, and prices are fair. Worth knowing: it's genuinely tight for space and you order before you sit, so at weekday lunchtime you may end up on a high stool or taking it away. The coffee beans are darkly roasted — better in milky drinks than as espresso.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
