Pret A Manger
A handy Edinburgh cafe stop with high chairs and vegan options, well-rated by parents at 4.2 stars.

Two seating areas mean there's usually somewhere to tuck a pram, and the team seem genuinely happy to shuffle things around to seat a group how they want it — even on a busy Saturday morning, when service still moves fast. Children get colouring sheets, and their drawings go up on the wall, which buys you a good twenty minutes. Portions are enormous: the hangover pancakes defeat most people, and the banana Biscoff ones are the thing children order twice. The veggie stack and the chipotle wrap both get raved about, and the coffee is properly good — one visitor describes a rich caramel flavour. High chairs, a kids' menu and vegan options are all there. Outdoor tables are lovely for street-watching but go cold quickly. It's central, it's busy, and drinks are priced a notch above the food.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
