Plaice on the strand
A spotless, friendly chippy with huge fresh fish, gentle prices, free parking, high chairs and a kids' menu.

Restaurants · Ferndale
An ice cream parlour that turned into a proper little restaurant, this Ferndale spot has space to spread out — roomy indoors and a decent outdoor seating area, so a pram isn't a problem and nobody's squeezing past your table. Parking is free, tucked round the Porth side of the building by the car wash. Staff come up again and again as genuinely warm; one family walked in half an hour before closing and were still made to feel welcome, which tells you plenty about how they'd handle a wobbly toddler. Food is good and priced kindly — the eggs benedict and the bacon sandwiches get real praise, and the Mediterranean burger has its fans. They make their own ice cream, which is the clincher on a warm afternoon. There's a kids' menu and high chairs, and it's noticeably clean.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
