A community-run café and shop on the main road through the village, this is the kind of easy stop where nobody minds a bit of noise. There's a play corner with toys and games, so children have somewhere to land while you finish a coffee, and the green and playground just outside are the real draw on a fine day. Buggy access is straightforward, high chairs are there, and the volunteers behind the counter are warm and unhurried. Food is genuinely cheap and good — soup of the day with bread for a few pounds, light lunches, vegetarian and vegan options, and homemade cakes worth the detour (the sticky iced ginger one especially). Parking is free. Two snags: it closes at 4pm, and Saturday mornings bring a farmers' market into the hall, which is lovely but busy.
