Italian · Manchester
Big, buzzy Italian dining in the middle of Manchester, and the sort of place where a family lunch feels like a proper occasion rather than a chore. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and step-free access for a pram, plus vegan choices if that's a factor. The pasta is what people come back for — one visitor called the dishes "lovely" and the tasting-plate dessert a highlight — and the team is warm with it, smiley and attentive even when tables are full. Two honest caveats: it's loud, mostly because the room fills with chatty diners rather than anything structural, so a noise-sensitive child may struggle; and at £££ it isn't a casual weekday stop. Worth booking, and worth aiming for a quieter early slot if you're bringing little ones.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.

Halal Turkish grills near paid parking, with high chairs, a kids' menu and warm, quick staff — pricey, but the Iskender is worth it.
