Lunch on a weekday around noon can be genuinely quiet, which makes it an easy one with little ones; Saturday lunchtimes get busy and service slows considerably, so book and go early if you can. Portions are hearty — the Barnsley chop, the bacon chop and the beef hash all get real praise, and the fishcake starter is generous.
