Seafood · Bristol
Down in Bristol's Cargo section, this is the fish and chips locals send visitors to, and it holds up — fish comes out fresh and cooked to order, so there's a wait, but it's worth it. The mussels are the thing people return for, sweet and swimming in a creamy parsley broth, and the homemade tartare sauce and mushy peas get their own fan club. Chips are excellent. Buggy access and free parking make the trip easy, and there's a kids' menu, high chairs and outdoor seating; staff are described as thoughtful and attentive, though the odd busy service has run slow, so book if you're a bigger group. It's lively with music playing, pricier than a standard chippy, and the stools aren't built for long sits. Fish is gluten free as standard.
