Gastropub · Edinburgh
A proper local pub a short walk from Arthur's Seat, with free parking and enough room to get a buggy in without a fuss — handy if you're combining lunch with a walk up the hill. The menu is big and genuinely varied, with a kids' menu, high chairs, vegan and vegetarian choices, and a set menu midweek that families call excellent value. Food tends to arrive quickly, which matters when someone's patience is running out: the chicken, leek and cheddar pie, the lamb rump and the Sunday roast all get singled out, and the staff are warm without hovering — one group had a birthday brownie decorated for them. Loos are clean and roomy. Worth knowing: dogs are welcome inside, so ask for a table away from them if that bothers you, and popular dishes do sell out.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
