A cosy stop in the heart of Castleton, five minutes' walk from the public car park, with a real fire inside and a proper garden out the back where there's plenty of seating and room to let children spread out a bit. Breakfasts and lunches are the strength — homemade sausage rolls, warm brie and cranberry sandwiches, avocado on sourdough, hot chocolate worth the detour, and cakes that families come back for. Portions are generous and it's good value for the money, with high chairs, a kids' menu, vegan choices and buggy access covered. The staff are warm and quick, which matters when someone's hungry. Loos are clean and well kept. It's a small, popular spot after a walk or a cavern trip, so lunchtimes can fill up — arrive early or head straight through to the garden.
