Fish this fresh usually comes with a hushed grown-up dining room attached, but there's a kids' menu here, high chairs, and buggy access through the door, plus outdoor seating if your two want to watch the harbour rather than sit still. The staff are the thing families notice most — attentive without hovering, topping up water and fries, happy to explain the daily specials off-menu and where the fish came from. Battered haddock arrives with unlimited fries, which solves the child who insists they're still hungry; the grilled salmon, scallops and oysters get genuine raves from grown-ups. It does get busy, so book at weekends. Fair warning: at ££ the bill climbs quickly once lobster and wine appear, and the odd dish doesn't live up to the price. One visitor summed the service up as "five stars".
