A few outside tables at the front go fast on warm days, and inside there's level access to the main part of the café — though a few steps lead elsewhere, so it's worth checking where you'll land with a pram. Food is made fresh, so expect a short wait at busy lunchtimes, but the soup and falafel wrap draw repeat praise, alongside the Wensleydale and local chutney sandwich and a coffee and walnut cake with a proper strong coffee flavour. Hot chocolate comes loaded with cream, marshmallows on the side to add yourself. Vegan and gluten-free options are clearly marked, and there's a kids' menu, high chairs, dogs welcome and free WiFi. Two honest snags: portions run small for the price — a £6.40 plate of kids' fish goujons drew comment from the four-year-old eating it — and the single toilet often has a queue. Busy even on a wet Monday, so book if you can.
