Tucked away enough that regulars call it a "cosy hidden gem", this is a bright, calm little café where a family of five can spread out over breakfast without feeling like they're in the way. The staff are warm and unhurried with children — one visitor asking about ingredients in the Thai chicken soup was brought a small cup to taste first, which tells you the tone. High chairs, a kids' menu, buggy access and free parking cover the practicalities. Portions are generous and everything's made fresh: the BLT ciabatta, French toast with bacon and syrup, pulled pork and the pancakes all get named again and again, and the homemade cakes and heart-shaped empire biscuits are worth taking home.
