Cafés · Derby
A couple of minutes off the A50, this is the kind of café that's become a Saturday-morning fixture for local families — and worth booking a table if there's a few of you, because it fills up. There's a large car park (free, and recently levelled out a bit), buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu, plus an outdoor seating area looking over the countryside for when everyone needs air. The staff keep a busy room clean and get food out quickly and with a smile, which matters when someone's flagging. Everything's home-cooked, cakes included: the full English is around £9.50 for a genuinely massive plate, the scrambled eggs get singled out, and there are daily specials and good sandwiches at lunch. Dogs are welcome too. One parent called the quality and price unbeatable.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
