Tucked along Hope Street a short walk from Central Station, this is a proper old-school Italian — red-and-white checked tablecloths, lively music, no frills — that's been quietly doing the business for years. It doesn't look like much from outside, which is rather the point. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and buggy access, and the team are attentive and warm even when it's busy; food arrives promptly, which matters with a hungry toddler. Portions are generous and prices genuinely low — the two-course set menu comes in under £19. Children tend to go for the macaroni and the profiteroles; the chicken in creamy mushroom sauce and the calzone get the most praise from grown-ups. Worth knowing: lunch service stops at 2.30pm, big groups can make it noisy, and it gets very warm inside on milder days.
