Café · Winchester
Tucked just off the main drag in Winchester — easy to miss, worth the tiny detour — this is a café inside a zero-waste refill shop, with vintage clothes, plants and handmade bits from local Hampshire makers to browse while you wait. That browsing is the secret weapon with restless children: something to look at that isn't a screen. Buggies get in fine, there are high chairs and a kids' menu, and outdoor seating if the inside feels busy. The mushroom, kale and ricotta tartine gets ordered again and again, the eggs come with a punchy home-made pesto, and the cake counter is dangerous. Vegans are properly looked after rather than tacked on. Staff are warm and unhurried. One honest note: portions run small for the price, so a hungry six-year-old may need a cake too. Dog-friendly.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
