Cafés · Warrington
Tucked into a lean-to greenhouse against the old garden wall, this is the kind of spot where you can let the children loose on the paths between the ponds and greenery afterwards. There's plenty of seating indoors and out, so a pram isn't a problem, and parking is free on the road by the entrance as well as in the car park. The jacket potatoes come out golden with cheese oozing over the sides, the homemade cakes are worth the detour, and the kitchen will happily adapt a sandwich for a vegetarian. Two honest snags: it gets properly loud inside when it's busy, and service can slow right down at peak times — one family waited 45 minutes for pancakes. Come mid-week if you can, and don't be in a rush.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
