Restaurant · Saint Ives
Right on Porthmeor sand just below the Tate, this is the kind of spot where the view does half the work — surfers to watch while you wait, and sunsets that regulars have been coming back for over a decade. Food is properly good: crab sandwiches, fresh mussels, prawns and arancini, tapas plates to share, and a cheeseburger and chips that keeps children happy. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and vegan options, and the terrace has outdoor booths with blankets and heaters for less-than-perfect Cornish weather. Buggy access works. Staff are warm and genuinely accommodating, and the team moves food out fast even at full house. Two snags worth knowing: it's not cheap for what it is, and service can slow when it's busy — book a terrace seat or a pod if you can.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
