Tyfu Play Cafe
Toddler-focused play cafe with role-play shops, soft play and good coffee — brilliant midweek, but tricky with a pram and busy at peak.

Pub · Cardiff
A proper old Cardiff pub that looks and feels like one — dark wood, a fire worth sitting beside, and the kind of relaxed corner where nobody hurries you along. Families are well set up here with high chairs, a kids' menu and free parking, and the staff have a reputation for taking things in their stride: gluten-free needs sorted without fuss, food arriving quickly even when the place is heaving. Portions are generous for the money, and people come back for the garlic and cheese mushrooms, the steak and malbec pie, the beef roast on Sundays and a burger with hot honey that gets genuinely rave notices. Worth knowing: it gets seriously loud at busy times, steaks can arrive overcooked, and the chair upholstery has seen better days. Book ahead for Sunday lunch.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
