Bistro Baristo
A relaxed Southampton café with high chairs, outdoor seating and vegan options — easy for families at a mid-range price.

Restaurant · Southampton
Step inside and you're somewhere with genuine history — part of the old city wall sits behind a glass panel in the bar, and the place was pouring pints when the Titanic sailed. Practically, it works better for families than most old pubs: there's a separate dining area away from the main bar, buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu, plus a couple of tables outside. Portions are, as one visitor put it, "built for the hungry" — fish and chips comes in for constant praise, along with the Sunday carvery, salt and pepper squid and proper steaks, at prices that feel fair. Staff are warm and take allergies seriously. Two honest snags: live music runs most nights and gets going at weekends, so pick a quiet lunchtime if you want calm, and it can feel chilly inside.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
