The West Bay Hotel
A beachside 18th-century inn in Bridport with a seafood restaurant, cosy bar, and outdoor seating for sunny family days.

Restaurant · Bridport
Set inside restored railway carriages, this is a properly special place to bring children — the decor alone gives little ones plenty to point at, and one family found there was no trouble fitting a pram beside the table in the carriage. Sunday lunch is the thing to book: roast beef with generous veg and a rich pan jus, whipped goats curd and cured trout starters that feel far grander than the price suggests, and desserts like poached pear with cherry sorbet. Gluten-free diners are genuinely looked after, Yorkshire pudding included. Staff are warm and unusually patient with small guests. Two honest notes: it's a booking-only sort of place, and food can be slow to arrive when they're stretched — so bring something to occupy hungry children. Free parking, high chairs, and the beach is a short walk away.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
