Set on the edge of the Great Field in Poundbury with an adventure playground and open grass right outside, this is the sort of place where you can drink a decent coffee while the children run themselves ragged in full view of your table. There's seating inside and out, high chairs, a kids' menu, buggy access and free parking, plus well-behaved dogs are welcome. Service is quick, the cakes and pastries are good (the breakfasts get admiring looks from neighbouring tables), and it's run by a small charity supporting young people. Two honest notes: prices feel steep for what it is — drinks nudge £4, a babyccino nearly £2 — and inside gets genuinely noisy and busy at weekends. Milkshakes are powder-based, so manage expectations. Closed Mondays.
