A small Cardiff café where the welcome does a lot of the heavy lifting — the owners tend to come out from behind the counter, talk you through the menu and genuinely check you're alright, which counts for a lot when you've arrived with a pram and a hungry toddler. Breakfast is the draw: avocado toast with poached egg and turkey rasher, full breakfasts that are fresh rather than greasy, the Mix Up plate with halloumi and hash browns, and Biscoff pancakes people can't stop talking about. The brownies are made in-house and worth the detour. Fresh mocktails go down well with children in warm weather. High chairs, a kids' menu, vegan and halal options, buggy access and free parking all help. It's a compact space, so quiet weekday mornings suit little ones better than a busy weekend.
