Café · Bournemouth
Set among the trees in Bournemouth Gardens, a few minutes' walk from the seafront, this is an easy one with children — plenty of room, level access for a buggy, and outdoor tables where nobody minds a bit of noise. Birdsong from the nearby aviary does a lot of the work in keeping small people entertained. Food comes out fast, which matters when someone's hungry and losing patience, and the toasties get the most praise — the Proud Mary and the chilli egg and halloumi brunch bun especially, alongside a filling avocado toast and yoghurt board. There are vegan options including dairy-free ice cream, plus cakes and iced lattes. Staff are welcoming and prices are fair. Sunny weekends and school holidays get busy, so come early — one family arrived at 10am and had the place near enough to themselves.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
