Cambridge's oldest pub wears its age well — low beams, solid wooden bartops, and a warren of small rooms that open out past the narrow entrance into a fair amount of seating, plus a proper garden and patio out back. That layout matters with a pram: the front is tight, but there's room once you're through, and buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu are all sorted. Food is the real draw — the fish and chips and steak and ale pie get singled out again and again — and one family found it arrived "very quick", which counts when someone's melting down. Staff are generally warm and unfussed. Two honest notes: the kitchen has been known to close mid-afternoon, so check before you count on lunch, and it's popular enough to be busy on a random Wednesday.
