Coffee Shops · Kirriemuir
Tucked a mile from Reekie Linn waterfall, this is the kind of stop that turns a walk into a whole afternoon. The café interior is cosy and calm, staff are unfailingly friendly, and the food comes out fresh — a very generous bowl of herby lentil soup, cheese scones people go back for, and a fruit scone with raspberry and rhubarb jam that one visitor called "heaven on a plate". Kids' meals get a special mention from families, and there's a free nature trail with deer, donkeys, goats, turkeys and a peacock, plus a duck pond across the road with 50p duck food from the shop. Free parking is ample, buggy access and high chairs are sorted, and the outdoor seating comes into its own in warmer months. The menu is varied rather than extensive — so expect a short list, well done.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
