Tucked off the main road a short walk from the centre, this is the sort of Cambridge pub locals keep for themselves rather than the tourist-facing places. The interior is genuinely spacious — room to park a pram without apologising to anyone — and there's a proper outdoor area with heat lamps for cooler evenings, plus high chairs and a kids' menu. Staff are warm and unflustered; when a soup came out lukewarm it was sorted without fuss, and one family had a wallet chased 300 metres down the road to return it. The bar menu runs to soup of the day, fish finger baps, nachos and fish and chips. Two honest snags: food prices feel steep for what arrives, and the kitchen isn't always running — worth ringing ahead if you're counting on lunch. Quiet on winter weekdays, lively when there's live music on.
