A cosy city-centre spot where the tables turn over quickly enough that a hungry toddler isn't left waiting — food tends to arrive hot and fast, and there's usually plenty of free tables at lunchtime, so you're not squeezing a pram between full ones. High chairs and a kids' menu are sorted, and there's outdoor seating in good weather, though it isn't always offered early in the day, so ask. The mushroom risotto, meatballs, lasagne and garlic king prawns come up again and again, as does the bruschetta with onion and goat's cheese; ask for parmesan and you'll get a generous heap. Staff are friendly and patient. Two honest snags: starter portions can be small for the price, and voucher deals (Groupon, Wowcher, The Fork) narrow the menu and add supplements — check your bill before paying.
