Tucked inside a church, this is a warm, community-feeling spot where the staff genuinely seem pleased to see children — one family arriving for their daughter's birthday were brought out cake and candles and sung to, and when they asked for a dustpan after the inevitable floor mess, they were told firmly that clearing up is the team's job and they should enjoy their lunch. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and buggy access, plus outdoor seating near the river for good days. Food's the real draw: sausage rolls people come back for, waffles, omelettes, a good soup of the day, proper coffee, and an unusually large gluten-free range including cakes and a brie and fig option. Prices are reasonable. The snag is space — it's small, and on wet days when everyone's inside, tables go fast.
