Tucked on the first floor of an art deco building right on the beach, above an amusement arcade, this one surprises people — the entrance looks unpromising, upstairs is all sea views across Weymouth Bay. Being slightly out of the town centre means parking is easier and free, which matters when you're unloading a pram and a toddler. High chairs and a kids' menu are there, plus outdoor seating, and the team are known for going out of their way — large family groups have been given their own annex overlooking the bay. Pasta tastes properly homemade; the Oliveto pizza, carbonara and seafood linguine come in filling portions, and the lunchtime three-course special is good value. It isn't cheap in the evenings, and it gets busy, so book ahead and ask for a window table.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
