Tucked downstairs in a hotel, this is a roomy, low-lit bar and kitchen with plenty of space between tables — easy going with a pram, and quiet enough midweek that a toddler making noise won't draw looks. There are high chairs, a kids' menu and a few outdoor tables, and when the team is on form they're genuinely warm, checking in without hovering. Be warned, though: service is the weak spot. Several families have waited a long while to be served, sometimes without being told you order at the bar, and menu items and desserts can run out, especially near the 9pm kitchen close. Portions divide opinion for the price. Go midweek, early, order promptly and ask what's actually available, and it can be a relaxed, easy meal out.
