Mediterranean · Southampton
Turkish and Kurdish cooking in Southampton that runs on generosity — most tables get a complimentary lentil soup before they've even ordered, and often tea and a slice of knafeh on the way out. The mixed grill is the thing to get: lamb shish, kofta, charred lemony chicken shish, all arriving in portions big enough that three people genuinely struggle to finish. Come hungry, or plan to share between the children. It's family-run and it shows — the team talk you through the menu, bring extra sides when you can't decide, and are unhurried with a table that includes small ones. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, vegan options, outdoor seating and free parking. Midweek early evening is calm and uncrowded; weekends are livelier. Portions of rice, one parent notes, are "too much" — a nice problem.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
