Unassuming from the street, it opens up into a surprisingly roomy dining room, which makes a difference when you're arriving with a pram and a couple of hungry kids. The draw is the all-you-can-eat menu — everything cooked to order rather than sitting under hot lamps — so plates come out piping hot and you can ask for dishes to be tweaked for fussy eaters. Chicken and sweetcorn soup, beef and broccoli, salt and chilli squid and sweet and sour king prawns all get named again and again, and portions are enormous. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and vegan options, and the staff take time to explain what each dish is. Value is strong at around £21 a head at weekends. One snag: when it's busy, clearing plates can be slow.
