Set just above the bowling green on the edge of Simmons Park, this is an easy stop after a run-around outside — buggy access is straightforward, there are high chairs and a kids' menu, and outdoor tables mean you can sit where a loud toddler bothers nobody (dogs stay outside too). The counter display does most of the persuading: handmade Devon cakes and biscuits, savouries, paninis and filled rolls, with proper gluten-free options including an oat cookie people come back for. Coffee is genuinely good and prices are gentle — a large latte and a slice of coffee cake came in under £7. Staff are warm and quick, which matters when someone's hungry. Two honest notes: it's small, so a busy day feels tight, and the chlorine smell drifts over from the leisure centre pool next door — though the viewing wall onto the pool keeps children entertained.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
