Tucked in the centre of Sidmouth near the seafront, this is a seafood place that turns out to be surprisingly easy with children in tow — buggy access, high chairs, a kids' menu and free parking, which takes the sting out of a family lunch by the sea. The walls are covered in bright sprayed murals, so there's plenty to keep small eyes busy while you wait, and the staff are friendly and quick without hurrying you. Lunchtimes are the calmer slot; evenings get busy enough that booking ahead is sensible. The fish and seafood is sourced locally and it shows — the mussels, the chowder, the scallop and prawn skewers and the octopus all draw real praise, and the bottomless chips are a quiet win with hungry children. Portions are generous, prices mid-range, and families often end up going back twice in one holiday.
