A Turkish kitchen crossed with a proper chippy sounds odd on paper, but it works, and it works especially well with children in tow. The refurbished dining room is roomy and modern enough for a pram, with high chairs and a kids' menu — and a mini fish and chips with peas that suits a smaller appetite without wasting half a grown-up portion. The fish comes out crisp rather than greasy, the curry sauce piping hot, and there are dips and warm bread to graze on while you wait, which buys you time when someone's patience is running out. Staff are kind and unhurried, happy to explain the Turkish side of the menu. Portions are big — the mixed kebab platter defeats two adults. Save room for baklava. Great value for a sit-down meal in the city centre.
