Just off the main road down to Devon and Dorset, this is a far better stop than the fast-food places nearby — quirky decor, local artists' work on the walls, and doors thrown open onto a garden with seating when the weather allows. There's a decent-sized car park with plenty of disabled bays right by the door, high chairs, buggy access and a kids' menu, plus clean toilets and free WiFi. The staff are warm and quick, and food arrives fast even at a busy lunchtime. Sweet potato fries, the bacon, brie and cranberry panini and the ploughman's all get raved about, and the coffee is properly good. Gluten-free and vegan options are covered too. It's genuinely busy most days, so arrive early to be sure of a table, and note the menu drops to cake and coffee in the last half hour.
