A chic vineyard hotel near Pontyclun with cottages, a formal dining room and a relaxed bistro — a lovely family getaway.

Restaurants · Pontyclun
Set in the Pontyclun countryside with views worth grabbing an outdoor table for, this is a proper sit-down meal that still works with children in tow. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and level access for a pram, plus free parking right outside the door — no wrestling a car seat across a car park in the rain. The food is the draw: you can see it picked from the display before it's cooked, the slow-braised lamb shoulder falls off the bone, and the fish and tuna steak get equal praise. Desserts are generous. Staff are cheerful and quick even when it's heaving, which matters when someone's patience is running out. Do book — Sunday lunch fills up, and it's busy enough at weekends to be lively rather than quiet. The starter-and-main deal at around £14.95 is good value.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
