Starbucks Coffee
A Newcastle coffee shop with a kids' menu, high chairs, vegan options and outdoor seating for an easy family stop.

Café · Newcastle upon Tyne
Tucked away opposite Haymarket, the entrance takes a bit of finding — it's up a few flights, though there's a lift, so a pram isn't a problem. Once inside there are two seating areas, one bright and airy with windows looking down over Northumberland Street; it's generally calm enough to read in, though it does get noisier when the windows are open and the high street drifts up. Everything is homemade, and the cakes are the draw — the cheddar and apple scone, the orange and semolina, a clementine and almond that's rich without being too sweet. There are paninis and Greek coffee too, but the hot food menu is limited and sides cost extra. The owners talk you through the menu happily, and one family calls it a "hidden gem". High chairs, a kids' menu and vegan options; a loyalty stamp earns a free drink.
