Saltwater Fish Company
A well-loved Newcastle seafood restaurant rated 4.7 by over 340 diners, mid-priced and good for a family meal out.

Café · Newcastle upon Tyne
Tucked inside Fenwick, this is a bright, colourful spot with plenty of seating and enough room to get a pram parked without a fuss — handy, given how much space the shop floor swallows elsewhere. The staff are genuinely warm and chatty, the sort who notice you've arrived with a toddler in tow. Cakes are the draw: the vanilla cupcake gets particular praise for being light and airy, there's a real spread of sweet and savoury, and an Americano-and-pain-au-chocolat deal at £5.50 is decent value. Two honest caveats. It's not cheap — a slice of cake can run to around £7 and portions on the lunch plates have shrunk. And service can crawl at busy times; one family waited 25 minutes with only four groups ahead. High chairs and a kids' menu are there, but come when you're not against the clock.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
